Describing Nature

Autumn Landslip

Here’s the science bit:Basically, we physically exist in 3 Dimensions of Space: up or down / left or right / in or out – each going in positive and negative directions.  The dimension of time – according to the laws of physics – only goes in one direction.  Now there’s a conundrum. But we instinctively know there must be more than 3 dimensions to describe nature, and when it comes to painting the visible world, all these dimensions come into play.  Time is something we have to plan to allow it to happen.  Spending time with nature is important, not only for our well-being but also to understand – through very careful observation – how light describes the colours in objects to give them their form or hides in the shadows.
